Connect a Custom Domain

Add a domain or edit your DNS settings to use your existing website domain

Written by James Kiehn

How do I configure my custom domain to point to my TeamLinkt website?

  1. Login to your domain provider’s website. (eg. godaddy.com, bluehost.com, hover.com, etc...). Configuring your custom domain to point to your TeamLinkt website involves updating your domain's DNS settings and notifying TeamLinkt to enable SSL for secure access.

2. Go to the DNS management area. This is different depending on who your provider is but typically you’ll find it in a menu.

For godaddy.com:

1. Login and go to the domain manager. https://dcc.godaddy.com/domains?showAdvanceListView=true

2. Select the domain settings for the appropriate domain

3. Select Manage DNS

4. If there is already a CNAME record for www, then edit it (click the pencil icon). Otherwise select Add:

  • Host: Enter “www” (do not enter the quotes)

  • Points to: Enter “@” or "example.com". Based on your provider @ may need to be your domain name (again, do not enter the quotes)

  • The TTL field can be left alone

  • Click the Save button

5. If there is already an A record then edit it (click the pencil icon). You should only have one A record.

  • Host: Enter "@" or "example.com" (depends on provider, don't copy quotes)

  • Value: 15.197.204.149

  • Don't need to change TTL field

  • Click Save Button

Note: You must use default Nameservers in order for this to work.

For other domains providers:

The steps for other domain providers will be similar to godaddy.com. You will need to do two things:

Some domain providers allow you to use a CNAME record for the root domain but most do not (as it is not a valid domain instruction).

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • DNS Propagation Delays: If your domain does not load the TeamLinkt website immediately, wait for DNS propagation to complete (up to 48 hours).

  • Incorrect DNS Records: Double-check that the A record and CNAME record match the instructions provided above.

  • SSL Not Enabled: Ensure you have notified TeamLinkt after updating your DNS settings so they can activate SSL for your domain.

In your TeamLinkt Organization account:

Website Builder:

  1. Go to the Website tab in the left side navigation > then click Builder

  2. Click Site Settings at the top

  3. Under the Site Info tab, enter your domain for the Custom Domain field.

**Exclude https:// and www. Only include your domain e.g. "example.com"

You should allow up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate around the world but often it takes less than a couple of hours.

After updating your DNS settings, notify TeamLinkt through help@teamlinkt.com that the changes have been made. TeamLinkt will add an SSL certificate for your custom domain, enabling secure HTTPS access.
