Why a Registration Group May Be Unlinked from Form Settings

Understand why a registration group can become unlinked from top-level form settings and what to do about it.

Written by Preet Jain

Registration groups inherit their settings from the top-level form settings by default. However, in some cases a group can become unlinked from those settings β€” meaning changes made at the form level will no longer apply to that group.

What does "unlinked" mean?

When a group is linked to form settings, any changes made at the form level (such as updating Policies and Notices) automatically apply to all groups in that form. When a group is unlinked for a particular setting, it holds its own version of that setting independently β€” and will no longer update when changes are made at the form level.

Why does a group get unlinked?

A group becomes unlinked for a specific setting when that setting is edited directly at the group level. Since the group now holds different information than the form settings, the system treats it as independent for that section.

For example, if Policies and Notices are edited directly within a group, that group will become unlinked from the Policies and Notices set at the form level.

What to do if a group is unlinked

At the moment, there is no way to relink a group back to the form settings once it has been unlinked. If you need to update that setting, you'll need to edit it directly at the group level.
